Colorado Casino Guide

Welcome To Our Special Events Section

WELCOME TO THE ROCKIES, PARDNER!

Cripple Creek Colorado From Donkey Derby Days, celebrating the generations of pack burros used by Cripple Creek prospectors of the 1800s, to Madam Lou Bunch Day, celebrating the most notorious madam of Central City, visitors may want to consider combining their gambling pleasure with some fun special events in the hills. There's plenty of special events in the casinos, and the towns get into the act with annual motorcycle runs, car shows, concerts and more.

Cripple Creek Colorado The Palladium the newest outdoor amphitheater in the state presides in Cripple Creek, bringing top-notch entertainment, often combined with the City of Cripple Creek's special events. Guests have witnessed such great acts as Blood, Sweat & Tears, Herman's Hermits, B.T.O., Loverboy, the Platters and Starship, to name a few. Of course they add to the mix some outstanding local entertainment as well, for these concerts under the stars, behind the historic Gold Rush Hotel & Casino.

In winter months guests are treated to brightly-colored mountain hamlets decorated in holiday regalia. In Cripple Creek the old mines' headframes are lighted up throughout the hillsides of the area (bring your camera).

Donkey Derby Days The casinos get into the act by dressing up their premises as well. Spring and summer host the most activities, particularly in Cripple Creek. Past events have included gravity races, rodeos, Gold Rush Days, the Gold Camp Hill Climb, and Hot Time in the Gold Camp, commemorating the great fire that forced the town of Cripple Creek and Victor to rebuild. Both Black Hawk and Cripple Creek treat guests to awesome fireworks shows to commemorate our nation's independence for the Fourth of July.

More Madam's! Central's past events have included micro-brew and wine festivals along with annual jazz, blues and arts festivals.

Many events raise money for charity like the Race for the Cure golf tournament for breast cancer research, sponsored-annually by Bronco Billy's Sports Bar & Casino. In addition, Bronco Billy's has raised money for the Cripple Creek and Victor schools with events.

More Rodeo Activities! Cripple Creek also hosts its Veteran's Memorial Weekend, which started with a motorcycle run from Denver and Colorado Springs. This event has grown into such a phenomenal success that weekend warriors mark it on their calendars and a permanent P.O.W. memorial has been erected in the city park. Isle of Capri Casino and Bullwhackers have collected toys for needy children for Toys for Tots at Christmas time. There have also been 10k runs to help their own, when an employee has met their own personal crisis, once again showing the big heart behind the jackpots.

Girl poses for Special Event! The Gold Camp Film Festival has emerged into an annual event that brings Western stars, directors and producers to the area for the festival and workshops for budding screenplay writers, producers and more. This classic film genre has not been forgotten in the Greatest Gold Camp in the World. Arts and crafts festivals are also prominent and bring local artisans to the forefront, displaying quality products from quilts to fine arts. You'll find treasures at the arts and crafts fairs as well as at both the Gilpin County Fair and Teller County Fair held annually in both communities.

Though special events add to the overall ambience, the towns themselves have plenty to offer and bring back memories of a bygone era of gamblers, gunfighters, dance hall girls and miners, the backbone of these fascinating Colorado towns.
